What is it about a good sense of humor that so attracts us to someone else?

People whose gracious smile and hearty laughter lifts our burdens, even for a moment, are vitally important to our overall health and well being.

Jesus was and still is a kind and gracious being full of good humor.  Why else would he tell us to be of good cheer, and not be anxious or afraid?

If we imitate those we most admire we can’t help but become like them.  When we face our trials of life with the courage and confidence in God as Jesus so masterfully lived we should remember the words of Nehemiah when he so eloquently declared,

“The joy of the Lord is my strength.”

The joy which God has as our divine parent and His joy for us as His children is the source of our spiritual strength.

It is not the sorrow and suffering we experience that molds our eternal destiny, it is the confident joy we feel in spite of them.
