It is better to be recognized for what we give than what we take.
Recognition is an exciting experience especially when it is the “good kind”. If we are truthful, none of us get to wear the Good Guy White Hat, likewise, few men and women ever truly wear the Bad Guy Black Hat. Most of us are various shades of gray.
If we allow our unselfish nature to grow by serving others without resentment we have one of the simplest and most powerful ways to slowly change the color of our hats from dark charcoal to a light gray.
Abandon procrastination, communicate clearly and sincerely without using demeaning sarcasm, stop expecting a life of ease, allow service to become a sacred experience, and become trustworthy.
Sometimes we need to have a religion of the mind which transcends the differences found in other religions and denominations. The work ethic without the spiritual attitude is why people think money is the root of all evil. Selfishness is the root of all evil.
After selling my work in over 100 countries sometimes I get to see how art speaks many languages. There are many examples of my work transcending the language barrier. We all want our lives to count and to know that the contributions we make will be felt by others in a positive way. In this regard, I have been blessed many times.
Several years ago we started a Christian Art Competition. First it was the NCAC, National Christian Art Competition and then after many requests it became international, the ICAC. We promoted artists from around the world for about seven years, giving away many thousands of dollars as prize money and did our best to give them recognition and boost their aspirations into careers.
