Originals for Sale

$2,500.00

These four paintings are from our time in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We had a three physical stores in the Arts and Crafts Loop over a 15 year period.

There was a delightful Heritage Festival every year and these are from the Hemlock Village on Buckhorn Road where our first ART4GOD Gallery was located. Craftsmen would give demonstrations of their skills, singers voices would fill the air and float on the aroma of food being cooked and offered. I set up my easel and painted all that was around me.

These are oil paintings on stretched canvas or linen. The price is $1,500 each.

The sizes are around 12” x 18”.

=====================================================================

When I abandoned architecture and engineering in 1975 and decided to become a professional artist I read many biographies and autobiographies of artists.

Life did not turn out well for many of them particularly when, after their death and selling their creations to survive, the artist’s family were in even worse shape.

Considering myself as an artist all of my life and knowing I was in for quite a ride to pursue art as a career, most of my jobs after graduating from college were related in some way to art.

When we returned to Kentucky after living in Lake Geneva, Wis., Elgin, Ill. and Hollywood, Ca, I made three major decisions regarding my art career.

One, I decided that I would not cater to UK sports art.

Two, I would not attempt to ingratiate myself to the horse industry.

Three, I would only sell commissioned work. Everything else I would keep for my family.

The next phase required that I have a purpose not just a talent.

The next phase meant that I had to do work meaningful enough to create value for the originals I kept.

Now, as I am beginning my life, passing my 70th birthday, and having amassed many paintings I have decided to start selling them.

Time will tell how far I go and whether my decisions over forty years ago will prove my plans to honor my family will succeed.

I am starting with paintings which will be offered for less money to test the waters.

The major ART for GOD paintings will watch from their walls to determine whether they too will become available to individual or corporate buyers.

Thanks,

Stephen Sawyer
