The Door of Hope
The Door of Hope
“Behold I Stand at the Door and Knock”
Jesus is an extraordinary communicator. His words had and still have the ability to confound the world and save the lost.
“Behold I stand at the door and knock.” This phrase beckons the heart of mankind to respond to the truth, beauty, and goodness of God as revealed by Jesus.
The Good Shepherd gives His life to save the one lost. Would He do any less when He “knocks at the door of our heart”? Does Jesus stand at the precipice of destruction and tell the sheep to climb up on his own? If Jesus hears the faintest invitation of faith behind an unopened door, will he help open that door to save His sin-weakened child within? Hope eternal is that He will destroy the door and all else that separates us by keeping His steady hand on it’s latch.
No matter where we are in our walk with God, there is another step. The Master sees that direction clearly. Often while we busy ourselves with the importance of our “self” rather than the importance of our work, we turn away from God. Though we may have assurance of Eternal Life, “all fall short” and our spiritual walk may still be easily misdirected.
Jesus loves every person equally but He desires those who carry his banner to be accountable and in constant reminder of the gifts we are to share with others. Let not the mortar of our lives be mixed with complacency lest others be bidden to the feast.
